Upcoming events

Complex Wheelchair Seating with Joana Santiago (The OT Lab)

Joana will explore complex seating and share practical considerations for assessing young and older clients with complex postural needs. The session will focus on wheelchair seating intervention strategies that support both current needs and future changes, helping clinicians make informed and adaptable clinical decisions.

You’ll also get hands-on with a NEW innovative wheelchair seating system now available in Australia, that everyone is talking about.

When: Thursday 22nd October, 9am to 12pm

Where: GTK Brisbane

Complex Commode Selection with Rob Norman (Paragon Mobility)

Rob will take a practical look at commode selection for clients with specific and complex needs. Explore the options available, key considerations in the selection process, and how to match equipment to the client’s individual needs and goals. Learn how different features and adjustments can be used to optimise positioning, pressure management and functional outcomes, with customisation strategies to get the most out of the equipment.

Expect a day of practical learning, clinical reasoning, hands-on exploration and real-world solutions you can take back into your practice.

When: Thursday 22nd October, 12.30pm to 3.30pm

Quantum Rehab + GTK: Exploring Power Mobility

Choosing the right power chair can feel overwhelming, with so many power bases, drive options and access methods to consider. Delivered collaboratively by Quantum Rehab and GTK, this practical clinical education session is designed to build confidence in assessing, selecting and justifying power mobility solutions for individual clients.

Through hands-on exploration, participants will trial multiple Quantum Rehab power bases, including the new Edge 4, and work through practical scenarios to understand how different features influence performance and clinical outcomes. The session is designed for clinicians at all experience levels, providing practical knowledge and clinical reasoning strategies they can apply immediately in practice.

When: Thursday 29th October, 9am to 12pm

It’s Not All About Pressure. Tilt-in-Space as a Tool for Independence and Functional Mobility.

Ask most clinicians who a tilt-in-space manual wheelchair is for, and the answer usually involves words like “dependent,” “passive” or “high support needs.” This session asks a different question: what if the same technology, prescribed differently, could serve an entirely different population — active, independently propelling users managing pain, fatigue or long-term postural risk?

This session challenges that default thinking. We review the core components of tilt-in-space mechanisms and how differing designs support varying functional goals, before examining current evidence – regarding pressure redistribution, pain management, physiological benefits and participation outcomes.

When: Tuesday 1st December, 9.30am to 11.30am

Where: GTK Sydney
